Global Talent Visa : Disappointing Reports In UK

UK Global Talent Visa Fails on Expectations

Global Talent Visa : UK designed to attract exceptional individuals in academia, arts, culture, and technology, has seen minimal response since its inception.

Global Talent Visa & Former Home Secretary

Former home secretary Priti Patel introduced the program in 2021, aiming to draw top achievers who can contribute to the UK’s arts, sciences, music, and film sectors during post-pandemic recovery.

Despite these ambitions, the visa scheme has received merely three applications over two years. Out of these, two applicants were approved in 2022, and only one in 2023, as reported by Research Professional News.

The Home Office representative informed RPN that the ‘prestigious prize’ pathway of the Global Talent route is expected to have limited applications due to the exclusive nature of qualifying awards, distinguishing it from other immigration avenues.

To qualify for the visa, an endorsement confirming your leadership or potential in your domain is necessary. The Global Talent Visa is valid for five years, with potential for extension.

Leaders or exceptional talents can seek UK settlement in three years, while potential leaders can apply after five years. This scheme also allows for the inclusion of your family in the UK, including your spouse and dependent children. For each dependent family member, an additional application fee of £608 is required, along with the necessary documentation.
