Countries : Graduates from Indian medical schools now have the opportunity to practice medicine abroad. A ten year recognition status has been granted to The National Medical Commission of India by the World Federation for Medical Education.

This recognition holds significant implications for Indian medical graduates, enabling them to pursue postgraduate training and practice medicine in various countries such as the United States, Australia, etc. The Union Health Ministry’s press release highlighted these opportunities.

The accreditation extends to all 706 existing medical colleges in India, and any new medical colleges established over the next decade will automatically receive WFME accreditation.

This development is poised to make India an attractive destination for international students due to its globally recognized educational standards.

Anticipated outcomes of this recognition include elevating the global status and prestige of Indian medical institutions and healthcare practitioners.
