US to Hike Visa and PR Application Charges

Visa and Green Card :- In a significant development that could have far-reaching implications for a variety of immigration processes, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has introduced a proposal suggesting substantial increases in fees.

Visa and Green Card Applications Fees :-

Acknowledging financial challenges exacerbated by the ongoing pandemic, the USCIS has openly recognized the necessity for a comprehensive review of fees.

The proposed fee rule, anticipated to be finalized in December or January 2024, with an effective date expected 60-90 days thereafter, aims to address the persisting shortfall in recovering the complete cost of agency operations.

If enacted, the proposed fee hikes are poised to bring about significant consequences across various immigration categories. Particularly noteworthy is the H-1B E-registration fee, which could potentially undergo an astronomical increase, escalating to $215.

Concurrently, the petition fee for an H-1B visa application is slated to experience a significant surge, jumping to $780. The USCIS justifies these proposed increases by emphasizing the imperative to align agency capacity with anticipated workloads and to pre-emptively address potential future backlogs.

Confronted with the looming prospect of fee hikes, immigration attorneys are advising strategic investments in the EB5 program before any potential increases come into effect.

This multifaceted scenario underscores the intricate balance between financial viability for USCIS operations and the potential impact on individuals and organizations navigating the complex landscape of immigration processes.
