Indian Family Members Killed in Car Crash

Indian-Origin: A tragic incident in Canada has claimed the lives of an Indian couple and their three-month-old grandson, following a head-on collision involving a 21-year-old robbery suspect.

The suspect, Gagandeep Singh, was fleeing from police after allegedly committing liquor store robberies in Bowmanville, Ontario. The pursuit led to Singh driving the wrong way on Highway 401 in Whitby, located east of Toronto.

The crash occurred on April 29 when Singh’s U-Haul truck collided with a semi-trailer truck. Singh was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by The Toronto Star.

The victims of the crash were identified as Manivannan Srinivasapillai, 60, and Mahalakshmi Ananthakrishnan, 55, both from Chennai, along with their grandson, Aditya Vivaan. Fortunately, the boy’s parents, Gokulnath Manivannan and Ashwitha Jawahar, survived the devastating collision.

Prior to the fatal crash, Singh was facing charges for two separate liquor store robberies and other theft-related offenses totaling under 5K Canadian dollars.

Court documents indicate additional charges, including robbery involving violence against a man during a spree spanning from January 15 to February 27.

The passenger in Singh’s vehicle, identified as Manpreet Gill, 38, remains hospitalized following the crash.

He has not been charged in connection with the incident, according to his legal representative for previous charges.

This incident has sparked profound sadness and raised concerns about safety during police pursuits.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash while extending support to the surviving family members affected by this tragic event.
