Originally slated from March 6 to March 22, the initial registration period for FY25 experienced a three-day extension due to technical glitches on the USCIS website, pushing the deadline to March 25.

Despite the setback, USCIS reassured petitioners they could confirm eligibility for H-1B petitions subject to the annual cap.

In recent years, Indian tech professionals have dominated H-1B cap-subject visa recipients, securing over 70% of the available 85K visas.

Beginning next month, USCIS will transition the filing location for H-1B Form I-129 to a lockbox, necessitating all paper-based petitions to be sent to USCIS lockbox facilities.

Importantly, there will be no grace period for petitions received at USCIS service centres on or after April 1, 2024. Moreover, USCIS has introduced new fees and a revised edition of Form I-129 effective April 1, 2024.

Petitions with postmarks dated on or after this specified date must comply with the revised fees and utilize the latest edition of Form I-129, with USCIS determining the applicable form version and fees according to the postmark date.
