NRI Forum Karnataka Considers Indian Doctors in US

NRI Forum Karnataka hosted a prestigious ceremony on January 6 at Rajathaadri, Manipal, where they extended heartfelt recognition to American doctors of Indian origin.

This noteworthy event, attended by esteemed dignitaries and medical professionals, unfolded with a prayer led by Sachin, setting a reflective tone for the evening.

Dr. Vidyakumari, the deputy commissioner of Udupi district, took the opportunity to address the gathering, emphasizing the contemporary era of globalization.

She underscored the transformation of geographical distances, stating that what was once perceived as a considerable distance to America is now remarkably near, thanks to globalization.

Acknowledging the pivotal role played by the NRI Forum Karnataka, Dr. Vidyakumari highlighted the organization’s prompt and significant assistance to Indian-origin doctors, particularly during critical junctures such as the Ukraine war. She lauded their responsiveness during the global COVID-19 pandemic, where they facilitated aid and support swiftly.

The significance of the NRI Forum’s contributions was further emphasized by Dr. Sampath Shivangi, who expressed gratitude for the recognition bestowed upon Indian Americans.

Reflecting on the evolving identity of the community, he noted the shift from being referred to as Asian Americans to proudly embracing the designation of Indian Americans.

The event witnessed the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by dignitaries and all the doctors present, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and wisdom. Lakshmamma, the working secretary of NRI Forum Karnataka, concluded the evening by delivering a gracious vote of thanks.
