Mrunal Ketan Patel’s talent was evident as he played for the Gujarat representative sides at the under-19 level during the 2002–03 season. His early performances were a precursor to the remarkable career that lay ahead.

Transition to the United States

His performance against the West Indies, where he took 2/23, was particularly noteworthy. Beyond his wicket-taking abilities, Mrunal also emerged as one of the top run-scorers for the American team in the tournament.

Despite his promising performance in the Under-19 World Cup, Mrunal faced a long hiatus from the national squad. For nearly a decade, he continued to hone his skills, playing club cricket in the Southern California Cricket Association. His persistence and hard work eventually paid off in 2015 when he was called up as a replacement for Japen Patel at the 2015 Americas Twenty20 Championship.

Mrunal’s return to the national scene was marked by significant achievements. He retained his place in the U.S. squad for the 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifier in Ireland and Scotland.

Making his Twenty20 debut against Nepal, he demonstrated his growth and maturity as a cricketer. His journey was further embellished when he was named in the United States squad for the 2017–18 Regional Super50 tournament in the West Indies, where he made his List A debut on January 31, 2018.
