Mathukumalli Vidyasagar’s Early Life and Education

Mathukumalli Vidyasagar embarked on his academic journey with unwavering determination, earning his bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the prestigious University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1965, 1967, and 1969, respectively. His insatiable thirst for knowledge propelled him towards a path of relentless pursuit of excellence.

Career Trajectory

The trajectory of Vidyasagar’s illustrious career is adorned with milestones that redefine the boundaries of possibility. Commencing as an assistant professor at Marquette University in 1969, he traversed diverse landscapes of academia, including Concordia University and the University of Waterloo.

In 1989, Mathukumalli Vidyasagar returned to India, donning the role of Director at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), Bangalore, under the Ministry of Defence.

In the dawn of the new millennium, Vidyasagar’s journey took a transformative turn as he assumed the mantle of Executive Vice President at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest software company.

However, his quest for knowledge and innovation knew no bounds. In 2009, he embarked on a new chapter at the University of Texas at Dallas, where he held the esteemed Cecil & Ida Green Chair in Systems Biology Science.
