Kuljinder’s family moved to London when he was young, where he received his education at the prestigious Bishops Cotton Indian public school. These early years laid the foundation for the future visionary. Little did anyone know that this young boy from Punjab would go on to reshape the travel industry.

The Southall Travel Transformation

In 1997, Kuljinder Bahia took the reins of Southall Travel, a family business primarily focused on selling flights to the subcontinent for visiting friends and relatives. However, he had grander plans. Kuljinder embarked on a journey to transform Southall Travel into one of the most innovative and fastest-growing travel companies in the industry.

One of the key drivers of Southall Travel’s success was Kuljinder’s embrace of technology. He leveraged his own technology solutions to streamline operations and enhance customer experiences. By keeping a tight control of costs and offering exceptional customer service, he expanded Southall Travel beyond its niche market, venturing into mainstream worldwide travel, business travel, and luxury tour operations.

Innovation and Expansion of Kuljinder Bahia

In 2007, Kuljinder Bahia launched The Holiday Team, a business-to-business arm that provided travel agents access to value airfares through a tailor-made online booking system. This strategic move catapulted Southall Travel’s growth, solidifying its position in the industry.

Southall Travel’s success didn’t go unnoticed. In 2012, it earned a spot on the Sunday Times Top Track 250 list of the UK’s most successful mid-market private companies for the third consecutive year, rubbing shoulders with renowned brands like Selfridges, Aston Martin, and Warburtons.

Today, Southall Travel boasts a global workforce of more than 850 employees, serving leisure, wholesale, and business travel divisions. In 2013, the company launched its own website, Travel Trolley, further expanding its digital presence.

Kuljinder Bahia’s remarkable contributions to the travel industry have garnered him numerous accolades. In 2008, he received the Young Entrepreneur Award for his exceptional work at Southall Travel. Subsequently, in 2013, he was inducted into the British Travel & Hospitality Hall of Fame, becoming one of its youngest inductees.

Three years later, Kuljinder achieved another milestone by becoming the youngest recipient of the Institute of Travel & Tourism’s prestigious Odyssey Award. His commitment to excellence has propelled Southall Travel to consistently rank among the UK’s top 250 most successful companies.
