India Calls for De-escalation in Gaza as Hospital Crisis Unfolds

De-escalation :- India has called for de-escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, particularly concerning the recent Israeli military offensive at the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City.

The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, underscored the need for observing international humanitarian law, as civilian casualties rise in the region.

De-escalation:-

“The issue is not about one facility or a specific facility. Bharat has always underlined the need for civilian casualties to be avoided, for humanitarian law to be observed, and to encourage any efforts to provide humanitarian relief to those caught in the conflict,” stated Bagchi in response to questions about Bharat’s view on the Israeli operation at Al-Shifa hospital.The spokesperson reiterated India’s commitment to humanitarian assistance, revealing that the country had already sent 38 tonnes of relief materials to the region.

“We are looking to send more assistance,” he added, highlighting India’s concern about the increasing humanitarian crisis.

Addressing the broader context, Bagchi expressed India’s condemnation of the attacks by Hamas on Israel. “We had also strongly condemned the horrific terrorist attack on October 7 and our zero tolerance for terrorism and the need for immediate and unconditional release of the hostages,” he emphasized.

India‘s diplomatic efforts aim at not only urging de-escalation but also facilitating more humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. Bagchi indicated that discussions were underway regarding additional assistance to address the escalating crisis.
