The Italian ambassador to India, Vincenzo De Luca, made the announcement recently, emphasizing Italy’s commitment to fostering closer ties and boosting tourism between the two nations.
Highlighting the monumental step, De Luca expressed, “Italy is keen to cut the waiting period for visas by Indians, making it more convenient for them to explore the mesmerizing beauty of Europe.” This heralds an exciting era for Indian travellers, who have often faced lengthy visa procedures hindering their travel plans.
At present, the processing time for both business and tourist Schengen visas stands at a commendable 48 hours, a marked improvement from previous years. This streamlined approach is expected to alleviate the challenges Indian travellers have historically encountered when applying for visas.
De Luca underscored the significance of these efforts, stating that during the initial seven months of 2023, Italy has impressively issued 38 per cent more visas to Indian citizens compared to the previous year.
