The United Kingdom government has officially launched the application process for the highly anticipated UK-India Young Professionals Scheme 2025. This unique initiative provides young professionals from both countries the opportunity to live, study, travel, and work in the UK and India for up to two years.
How to Apply for the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme 2025
Indian nationals aged between 18-30 must enter the ballot on gov.uk to be considered for one of the 3,000 available spots under this scheme. The ballot will open on February 18 at 2:30 PM IST and close on February 20 at the same time.
The entry process is completely free, and successful applicants will be randomly selected by the relevant authorities. It is important to note that individuals under the Youth Mobility Scheme visa are not eligible to apply.
Eligibility Criteria for the Young Professionals Scheme 2025
For Indian Nationals:
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of travel.
- Should have proof of funds amounting to £2,530 (approximately INR 2,70,824) to support themselves while in the UK.
- Must not have children under 18 who live with them or whom they are financially responsible for.
For UK Residents:
- Must be between 18-30 years old and have a UK bachelor’s degree or higher qualification.
- Should have at least INR 2,50,000 in their bank account for a minimum of 30 days before applying.
- Must meet all eligibility requirements as outlined on the official government website.
How to Enter the Ballot for UK-India Young Professionals Scheme 2025
Applicants will need to submit the following details when entering the ballot:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Passport details (including a scanned copy)
- Phone number and email address
Application and Selection Process
The ballot for Indian nationals to travel to the UK under this scheme is free to enter. Those selected will receive an email notification within two weeks of the ballot closing.
Selected candidates will then have 90 days from the date of notification to complete their visa application with the UK Home Office. The application process includes:
- Filling out an online application form
- Providing biometric data
- Paying associated fees, including the visa application fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS)
To qualify, selected candidates must have their funds available for at least 28 consecutive days, with day 28 falling within 31 days of applying for the visa.
Mandatory Return to India After Two Years
One of the key stipulations of the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme 2025 is that Indian nationals must return to India after completing their two-year tenure in the United Kingdom. This ensures that the program remains a temporary exchange opportunity, fostering cross-cultural learning and professional growth.
In the year ending December 2023, more than 2,100 YPS visas were granted to Indian nationals. With the 2025 scheme now open, thousands more have the chance to benefit from this life-changing opportunity.
