Effective April 18, 2024, this policy change allows frequent travelers from India to obtain Schengen visas with an initial validity of up to two years, which can extend to five years if passport conditions are met. Under this rule, Indian nationals who have lawfully utilized at least two Schengen visas in the past three years are eligible to apply for a two-year multi-entry visa. Following the successful use of this two-year visa, travelers can then qualify for a five-year multi-entry visa, provided their passport remains valid throughout the period.

She emphasized, “We are making it easier for Indian citizens who have a history of traveling to Europe to obtain long-term visas. This will strengthen our people-to-people ties and enhance mobility.”
