Early Life and Education of Rueben Thevandran

Born on April 9, 1982, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Rueben Thevandran was raised by his single mother, Joyce John. With a younger sister, Sharmila, Burn grew up in a household where resilience and hard work were valued.

Rueben Thevandran’s first major step into the limelight came at the age of 22 when he participated in Malaysia’s first reality TV show, Akademi Fantasia (AF). This opportunity paved the way for his future in the entertainment industry, giving him the platform to showcase his talent and charisma. He had already acquired a diploma from the Malaysian Institute of Integrative Media, which further strengthened his skills in broadcasting and media production.

A Flourishing Career in Television

Rueben Thevandran’s rise to fame began in 2004 following his Akademi Fantasia success. His vibrant personality and natural on-screen presence led to numerous hosting roles. He became a regular face on Malaysian television, appearing in popular shows such as:

As his career progressed, Rueben Thevandran found his true calling in sports broadcasting. He became the host of Aktifpedia, an educational sports show, and Grandstand Ahad, a live review and update program on the latest sports happenings in Malaysia, both airing on Astro Arena. His ability to engage audiences with insightful analysis and energetic presentation made him a fan favorite.

Additionally, Burn lent his voice to various shows, including Masa Tambahan Arena Bola, a local soccer program. His distinctive voice and dynamic delivery made him one of the most sought-after voice-over artists in the industry.

Burn’s career in radio began in 2004 when he joined Xfresh FM, a station catering to young listeners. His engaging personality and creative content, including hit segments like “Panggilan Kena Burn” and “Usha Usha”, gained him a loyal fanbase.

In 2008, Rueben Thevandran made a strategic move to Era FM, teaming up with Cham (former VE singer) and Adifashla (his former AF partner) for the popular drive-time shows Petang Era and Malam Era.
