Rishi Sunak Takes Action: Sacks Suella Braverman Amidst Controversy
Rishi Sunak : British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak took decisive action by sacking his Interior Minister, Suella Braverman. This move came in the wake of Braverman’s controversial comments on the police’s handling of pro-Palestinian marches in London, sparking a wave of discontent within both the opposition and the ruling Conservative Party.

Braverman’s dismissal by Rishi Sunak follows the publication of an article in The Times on November 8, where she accused the police of applying “double standards” in their approach to protests. In particular, she criticized the handling of a pro-Palestinian demonstration on November 11, alleging a lenient response compared to right-wing protests.
The minister even went on to claim that the organizers had ties to terrorist groups, including Hamas, dubbing the participants as “hate marchers.” The fallout from Braverman’s remarks manifested on the day of the protest, with clashes between far-right counter-protesters and the police.
Over 140 people were arrested, leading to accusations from the opposition Labour Party that Braverman’s comments had incited the violence.
Members of the Conservative Party also voiced their dissatisfaction, expressing dismay at Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s delay in removing Braverman from office. One MP lamented, “Every day she remains in office further undermines the prime minister’s authority.”Suella Braverman, a Conservative leader and lawyer of Indian origin, has been a prominent figure in UK politics since her election to Parliament in 2015.
Her controversial stances, including defending British colonialism and advocating for the deportation of immigrants to Rwanda, have fueled both support and criticism throughout her career. Her previous resignation over a “technical” breach of government rules further adds to the complexities of her political journey.
