Rajnath Singh on National Security: “Under PM Modi, India’s Response Will Be Decisive”

Rajnath Singh on National Security: “Befitting Reply Awaits Those Who Threaten India”

In a powerful address that resonated with both national sentiment and strategic clarity, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on national security reiterated India’s unwavering resolve to protect its sovereignty and citizens. Speaking at the Sanskriti Jagran Mahotsav in the capital, Rajnath Singh declared it is his “responsibility to give a befitting reply to those who dare to attack our country,” following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that left 26 dead, most of them tourists.

Singh’s statement comes in the emotional and political aftershocks of the Pahalgam massacre—one of the deadliest civilian attacks in the region in years. “As a Defence Minister, it is my duty, along with our soldiers, to ensure that our borders are secure and our enemies are taught unforgettable lessons,” Rajnath Singh affirmed to a thunderous applause from the crowd.

A Nation Standing Firm

The defence minister didn’t just speak of weapons and warfare. He invoked a broader vision of India’s strength—rooted in both its military capabilities and its rich spiritual heritage.

“India’s true power lies not only in its armed forces but also in its timeless culture and spirituality,” Rajnath Singh said. “While our soldiers guard the borders on the battlefield, our saints preserve the soul of this nation. This two-front strength is what makes India unshakeable.”

He emphasized that the nation’s endurance and ability to respond decisively have been amplified under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “You know our PM very well. His working style and determination are not hidden from anyone,” Singh added. “What you desire as citizens—security, dignity, and justice—will certainly happen under his leadership.”

After Pahalgam: A Moment of Strategic Reckoning

The horrific Pahalgam terror attack on April 22—where terrorists opened fire near the popular Baisaran meadow—prompted urgent national introspection and a high-level security recalibration. Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened an emergency meeting with India’s top security brass, including Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

“The armed forces have full operational freedom,” PM Modi reportedly said during the meeting, affirming that India will respond on its own terms and timeline. “It is our national resolve to deliver a crushing blow to terrorism.”

India-Japan Defence Talks Amid Rising Tensions

Amid the escalating tension with Pakistan and growing regional instability, Rajnath Singh will host Japanese Defence Minister Gen Nakatani on Monday for comprehensive talks. The dialogue is expected to include discussions on the Pahalgam attack, increased Chinese activity in the South China Sea, and the broader Indo-Pacific security landscape.

The Ministry of Defence highlighted the strategic value of the bilateral meeting: “India and Japan share a long-standing friendship that has transformed into a special strategic and global partnership since 2014.”

Monday’s meeting marks the second time the defence ministers will engage in face-to-face dialogue in under six months. Their agenda includes enhanced defence industrial cooperation, reciprocal supply and services agreements, and maritime interoperability.

The growing alignment between India and Japan signals a wider regional commitment to peace and resilience. “Defence and security have become vital pillars in India-Japan ties, gaining traction due to a shared outlook on Indo-Pacific stability,” the ministry said.

A Call for Unity and Vigilance

As public sentiment intensifies, Rajnath Singh on national security echoed a resounding call to unity. “Terrorism is not just a challenge to our security—it is a challenge to our civilization,” he said. “But let it be known, India never forgets and never forgives. Every drop of blood spilled on this soil will be answered for.”
