Born on July 21, 1985, this Malaysian professional footballer carved his niche in the football world through hard work, humility, and an indomitable spirit. Rajes Perumal: The Early Days of a Rising Star
Rajes Perumal began his journey in the vibrant football scene of Malaysia with MP Selayang in the 2005 FAM League. From his early days, he showcased a relentless drive and passion for the game that would later define his career. In 2006, he joined Sabah, playing an instrumental role in the 2006–07 season, further establishing himself as a player to watch.
By 2008, Rajes Perumal had signed with Selangor PKNS FC, a move that saw him develop his skills further before joining Shahzan Muda in 2009. His return to PKNS in 2010 marked a turning point. Here, he played a pivotal role in the team’s victorious 2011 Malaysia Premier League campaign, cementing his status as a formidable defender.
Rising Through the Ranks
The year 2014 brought another milestone as Rajes Perumal joined Selangor, one of Malaysia’s most celebrated football clubs. His debut against T-Team on January 18, 2014, symbolized his entry into the Super League, and though his time with Selangor was brief, his contributions left a mark.
In 2015, Rajes Perumal transferred to Kedah, where he truly flourished. As a key player, he made 15 league appearances, helping the team clinch the 2015 Malaysia Premier League title and earning them promotion to the Super League. His 23 appearances across all competitions that year exemplified his commitment and consistency.
A Return to Familiar Grounds
Rajes’ journey came full circle in 2016 when he returned to PKNS. His third debut was a memorable 4–4 draw against Kuantan FA, showcasing his resilience and adaptability. Two years later, he joined MISC-MIFA (now Petaling Jaya City FC), where he played a vital role as a seasoned player. His first goal for the team in 2018, a crucial 3–2 victory over Penang, exemplified his knack for rising to the occasion.
A Tragic End, but an Everlasting Legacy
On October 17, 2022, tragedy struck when Rajes Perumal lost his life in a motorcycle accident in Batu Caves, Selangor. The news sent shockwaves through the football community. His coach, P. Maniam, described him as a disciplined and committed player, a role model for his teammates, and a pillar of the team.
Rajes Perumal leaves behind his wife, S. Komathy, and three young children: R. Thivyalini, R. Pirutheswar, and R. Kavee Nilavan. His family, supported by Socso benefits, continues to honor his memory, cherishing the legacy of a man who lived with purpose and passion.
