Early Life and Education of Preeta Bansal

Preeta, of Indian origin, was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, where her parents had planted the seeds of ambition upon emigrating from India in the 1960s. Her academic journey began at Harvard University, where she earned an A.B. magna cum laude in 1986.

The pursuit of legal expertise led her to Harvard Law School, where she graduated magna cum laude in 1989, leaving an indelible mark as the Supervising Editor of the Harvard Law Review.

Post academia, Preeta Bansal embarked on a remarkable clerkship, serving under Chief Judge James L. Oakes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and later under the esteemed United States Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer recognized her talents in 1999, appointing her as the Solicitor General of the State of New York.
