Born to Sukha and Nashuter Nagra, Sikh factory workers who immigrated from the Punjab region of India, Parminder grew up in a modest household with two brothers and one sister. Despite facing challenges, she excelled academically and artistically. She attended Northfield House Primary School and later Soar Valley College, where her love for acting blossomed.

During her time at Soar Valley College, Parminder showcased her talent by playing the viola in the youth orchestra and participating in theatrical productions. Little did she know that these early experiences would shape her future career in the performing arts.

After completing her A-levels, Parminder was approached by her former drama instructor, Jez Simons, to join the Leicester-based theatre company Haithizi Productions.
