Legal Action: The Jagraon city police in Ludhiana have filed a case against Tarun Kumar of Rampur Daraha for alleged blackmail and sexual harassment following a complaint from a USA-based NRI.
The case includes charges under Sections 304 A (sexual harassment), 354 D (stalking), 294 (obscene acts and songs), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, and Section 67 of the IT Act.

According to the complainant, who developed a friendship with Tarun on Facebook, their connection escalated into a romantic involvement. Unbeknownst to her, Tarun had ulterior motives, intending to blackmail, cheat, and extort money from her.
The complainant disclosed that Tarun, armed with her phone number, manipulated her images to create morphed pictures and videos, which he subsequently shared on social media groups and with her contacts.
Allegedly, he threatened to disseminate the manipulated content and harm her family unless she complied with his demands.
Inspector Sanjeev Kumar confirmed the registration of the case after an inquiry and initiated further investigation into the matter.
This incident underscores the potential risks associated with online interactions and emphasizes the importance of vigilance when forming relationships on social media platforms.
