NRI Eyed: Amid preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is reportedly eyeing Konda Narendra, a techie who returned from the USA, as a potential candidate for the Thamballapalle constituency in Annamayya district.
Situated amidst Anantapur district and Karnataka, Thamballapalle has long grappled with persistent underdevelopment, despite being transferred from Chittoor district during a district reorganization.
NRI Eyed for TDP Nomination
Currently represented by Peddireddi Dwarakanath Reddy, brother of Energy Minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, the constituency is seen as a stronghold of the Peddireddi family.
With former MLA G. Shankar Yadav’s absence post-2019 elections and concerns about outsider status surrounding the incumbent MLA, the TDP is seeking a formidable contender to challenge the Peddireddis.
Konda Narendra, formerly employed at NVIDIA in the USA in the domain of Artificial Intelligence, has emerged as a potential choice. Having returned to India a year ago, Narendra aims to leverage his local ties and development plans for the constituency, including engagement with farmers and youth through workshops and skill development initiatives.
Sources within the TDP suggest that Narendra’s name is under consideration as a probable candidate, indicating a strategic move to address local concerns and field a strong contender against the entrenched political influence in Thamballapalle.
