Upon his arrival in New Delhi on March 16, Christopher Luxon will meet with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. This discussion is expected to set the stage for deeper cooperation in trade, investment, and global strategic issues.
March 17: Tribute and Bilateral Talks
On March 17, PM Luxon will pay homage at Rajghat, honoring Mahatma Gandhi. Following this, he will engage in a crucial bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussion will focus on strengthening economic cooperation, expanding trade, and exploring investment opportunities between New Zealand and India. The leaders will also witness the exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at Hyderabad House, fostering new agreements in business, technology, and education.
Later in the day, Luxon will meet with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, further deepening the diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will host Luxon, followed by a formal meeting with Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan. Ahead of his visit, Christopher Luxon emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with India. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on March 10, he highlighted New Zealand’s commitment to expanding trade relations with India, the world’s fifth-largest economy.
“Next week, I’ll be traveling to India with a senior business delegation. Strengthening New Zealand’s relationship with India is a key priority for my Government,” Luxon stated.
The New Zealand Prime Minister also underscored the role of trade in boosting economic growth, job creation, and improving living standards.
“Trade is a key part of our plan to grow the economy, reduce the cost of living, and create more jobs and higher incomes for all New Zealanders,” he added.
