Kaushaliya Vaghela: Driving Economic Growth and Social Well-Being

Kaushaliya Vaghela: The First Indian-Born MP Making History in Victoria

Kaushaliya Vaghela, the former Member of the Legislative Council for the Western Metropolitan Region in Victoria, stands as a beacon of progress and inspiration. As part of the 59th Victorian Parliament, she made history as the first Indian-born Member of Parliament to be elected to the Victorian Parliament and the first Indian-born Hindu to enter any Parliament in Australia.

Her remarkable journey from a scientist and Risk and Compliance Manager to a distinguished political leader is a testament to her unwavering dedication to public service and community development.

A Vision for Family Values and Community Development

Kaushaliya Vaghela’s political career is deeply rooted in her firm belief in family values and her commitment to the development of infrastructure for the people of the West.

Kaushaliya Vaghela has tirelessly advocated for quality education and healthcare, recognizing these as the cornerstones of prosperity for the Western Metropolitan Region. Her work reflects a profound understanding that strong families and robust community infrastructure are essential for fostering economic growth and social well-being.

Championing the Sunshine Super-Hub

One of Kaushaliya’s significant contributions has been her advocacy for the Sunshine Super-Hub. In a powerful adjournment speech directed to the Honourable Jacinta Allan MP, she called for clarity and action on the Labor government’s plans for the Sunshine precinct.

Announced in 2018, this ambitious project promised to transform Sunshine into a major transport and economic hub, akin to Southern Cross station. Despite these grand promises, four years had passed with little tangible progress or funding commitments.

Kaushaliya’s passionate plea underscored the immense potential of the Sunshine precinct. With the right investment, this area could alleviate generational disadvantage and stimulate substantial economic activity, generating tens of thousands of jobs and up to $8 billion in new investments over the next three decades.

The precinct is uniquely positioned to accommodate a surge in employment across diverse sectors, including professional services, healthcare, education, government, legal services, hospitality, tourism, and advanced manufacturing.

Unleashing Educational and Economic Opportunities

Kaushaliya Vaghela’s vision extends beyond immediate infrastructure improvements. She recognizes the foundational role of education in driving long-term economic and social progress.

The greater Sunshine area, home to Victoria University campuses and the University of Melbourne at Sunshine Hospital, is poised to become a vibrant hub for tertiary education. By expanding and enhancing educational offerings, the region can attract and retain talent, fostering innovation and economic growth.

Her call for a master plan and firm funding commitments for the Sunshine precinct reflects her strategic approach to development. Kaushaliya understands that transforming Sunshine into a super-hub requires meticulous planning, substantial investment, and a collaborative effort between government and local stakeholders.

Kaushaliya Vaghela’s advocacy is not just about addressing current needs but also about laying the groundwork for future generations to thrive.
