Coming from the Ramgarhia Sikh community, his early years were rooted in a culture of hard work and determination. His father, Gurmail Singh, moved to Oman in 1975 as a carpenter for the Royal Oman Police, setting the stage for Jatinder’s future in the Gulf nation.
In 2003, Jatinder relocated to Oman with his mother and siblings, enrolling at the Indian School, Muscat. His love for cricket blossomed at an early age, and he quickly became a standout player. Representing Oman at the Under-19 level in the 2007 ACC Under-19 Elite Cup, Jatinder displayed remarkable wicket-keeping skills, executing five dismissals—all stumpings—highlighting his exceptional game awareness.

His explosive knocks—70 against Singapore, 62 against Malaysia, and 45 against Saudi Arabia—helped Oman qualify for the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier. That same year, he was instrumental in Oman’s qualification for the ICC T20 World Cup, finishing as the team’s highest run-scorer in the tournament.
