According to a release by the Sarnia Police, the two were involved in a physical altercation in the kitchen that escalated, leading to Hunter allegedly stabbing Singh multiple times. Despite immediate law enforcement response to the scene, Singh succumbed to his injuries.

Sarnia Police Chief Derek Davis emphasized that the investigation remains complex and ongoing. “Despite an arrest having been made, the Criminal Investigations Division continues to collect all evidence to uncover the circumstances of this tragic event,” he stated. Authorities have confirmed that the crime is not believed to be racially motivated, but they are yet to determine any motive behind the attack.

The incident has left a community grieving and searching for answers. Lambton College, where Singh was pursuing his academic dreams, issued a heartfelt statement acknowledging the devastating loss. “Students are at the heart of Lambton College, and the loss of a student is a tragedy of the highest magnitude,” the statement read. The institution has been in close contact with Singh’s family, assisting with funeral arrangements and plans for repatriation.
