Indian Authorities Interact with US based Studets

Indian Officials: Officials from the Indian Embassy and its consulates convened a virtual session with Indian students across the US, focusing on student welfare and maintaining connections within the diaspora.

Charge d’Affaires, Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan, led the discussion, with approximately 150 Indian Student Association representatives and students from 90 US universities in attendance.

Consul Generals from Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle also participated. The meeting, held against the backdrop of recent deaths of Indian and Indian-origin students at US universities, emphasized the importance of staying connected with the Embassy/Consulates and the wider Indian diaspora.

Ranganathan emphasized disseminating Embassy/Consulate guidelines among Indian students, including website registration, safety tips, and emergency contact information. Students were encouraged to share this information with their peers.

Suggestions from students aimed to enhance collaboration between the Embassy, university authorities, and other stakeholders.

The session underscores the proactive approach of Indian diplomatic missions in supporting students’ welfare and fostering a sense of community among Indian students in the US.

Such engagements play a crucial role in addressing challenges and enhancing support mechanisms for students studying abroad. This meeting was important keeping in mind the recent tragic happenings all over USA resulting in deaths of some Indian Students. Connecting and staying with the community was the main agenda as per the statements.
