India-Maldives Tension Impacts Maldives Tourism

Maldives Tourism Witness Less Demand

India-Maldives: The shift in the travel landscape emphasizes the influence of flight disturbances and accentuates the ever-changing dynamics of travel patterns. This suggests ongoing potential adaptations in the pricing and demand for holiday packages to the Maldives.

India-Maldives Tension Viral

Despite multiple long weekends in January, travel agents reported a significant drop in enquiries and a notable reduction in prices for Maldives vacation packages.

Even luxurious five-star packages, once priced above Rs 2.5 lakh, have dipped below the Rs 2 lakh mark, according to travel agents. The downward trend in prices might persist, with one-way flight tickets dipping on an average 7 to 8 percent, down from the previous range.

Indigo’s cancellation of direct flights between Delhi and Male from January 17, attributed to issues with engines in its Airbus A320 aircraft, has contributed to the shifting landscape.

Although the Maldives doesn’t have a fixed tourist season, it has consistently been a popular quick holiday location for locals. The accessibility of visa-on-arrival and reasonable costs usually leads to last-minute bookings during long weekends.

This change in the travel scenario underscores the impact of flight disruptions and highlights the dynamic nature of travel trends, with potential continued adjustments in pricing and demand for Maldives holiday packages.
