His professional career began in 2011 when he joined Tanjong Pagar United in the S.League. Despite being just a teenager, his leadership qualities stood out, and he was entrusted with the captaincy at the age of 18—a rare honor for someone so young.

Climbing the Ranks in Singapore Football

Geylang International (2013-2014)

In December 2013, Delwinder moved to Geylang International, a club known for nurturing young talents. His presence in the defense bolstered the team’s resilience, making him a key figure in their backline.

Courts Young Lions (2014-2015)

The following year, Delwinder Singh joined Courts Young Lions while serving his compulsory National Service. Despite the challenges of balancing training and military duties, he remained committed to his football career.

Hougang United (2015-2017)

After his NS obligations, Delwinder faced uncertainty as he was left without a club. However, his perseverance paid off when he was given the opportunity to train with LionsXII. His impressive performance in a friendly against Hougang United secured him a contract, marking another crucial step in his career. Over the next two seasons, he made more than 40 starts in league and cup competitions, proving his worth and earning a contract extension.

Warriors FC (2018-2019)

In 2018, Delwinder took on a new challenge with Warriors FC, where he continued to display his defensive prowess. His consistent performances earned him a contract extension for the following season, further solidifying his reputation as one of Singapore’s top defenders.

Return to Tanjong Pagar United (2020-2021)

After nearly a decade away, Delwinder Singh returned to his boyhood club, Tanjong Pagar United, in 2020. His comeback was symbolic, as he brought with him years of experience and leadership, inspiring younger players at the club.

Balestier Khalsa (2022)

In November 2021, he signed with Balestier Khalsa for the 2022 Singapore Premier League season. This marked his sixth club in Singapore’s top-flight league, highlighting his adaptability and continued demand as a solid defensive asset.

Geylang International (2023)

March 2023 saw Delwinder Singh make another return—this time to Geylang International after a decade away. His reunion with the club was yet another chapter in his career, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to Singaporean football.

Making History: Cambodia Premier League

On July 29, 2023, Delwinder Singh made history by signing with Angkor Tiger, becoming the first Singaporean footballer to play in the Cambodian Premier League. This move was a bold step, showcasing his willingness to embrace new challenges and pioneer new frontiers for Singaporean players abroad.

His debut for Angkor Tiger on August 6, 2023, in a match against ISI Dangkor Senchey, was a defining moment, not just for him but for Singaporean football as a whole.

International Career

Delwinder’s talent was recognized on the international stage early in his career. In 2011, he was called up to the Singapore national team, making his debut in a friendly match against the Philippines at just 18 years old. This milestone made him one of the youngest players to ever represent The Lions.

As of March 2016, Delwinder Singh had earned five international caps, representing Singapore in various competitions and training with the U-22 squad. His presence in the national team underscored his defensive capabilities and leadership skills.
