He delves into the Apu controversy, emphasizing the positive impact of such discussions on Hollywood. “The controversy over the character is completely justified simply because in 2018 it is weird to have a white actor doing an Indian accent on a TV show. There are so many Indian actors who can do that part and do it better.”

Karan Soni commends the makers of Deadpool for their commitment to diversity. The film, set in the X-Men universe, recognizes mutants as outcasts, mirroring the struggles of minorities in society.
“The makers always wanted the movie to be diverse because Deadpool takes place in the X-Men universe. They recognized it well that the cast needs to be diverse.” He proudly acknowledges being part of the initial steps towards a more inclusive Hollywood.

Looking ahead, Soni expresses his desire to see an Indian superhero break boundaries and enter Hollywood. Inspired by the success of Black Panther, he envisions a future where Indian representation in superhero films becomes a reality. “I am just happy to be part of the initial steps. I hope in my lifetime we will get to see an Indian superhero for sure.”
