Armed with a solid foundation in electrical engineering and a relentless drive for innovation, Sasikanth Manipatruni pursued his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in applied engineering physics from Cornell University.

Under the mentorship of luminaries such as Michal Lipson and Alexander Gaeta, Manipatruni embarked on a groundbreaking exploration of silicon photonics.

His seminal thesis, “Scaling Silicon Nanophotonic Interconnects,” laid the groundwork for transformative advancements in silicon-based optical technologies.

Manipatruni’s pioneering work in developing silicon electro-optic modulators paved the way for unprecedented speeds of electro-optic modulation, propelling the field from 1 GHz to staggering speeds of 50 Gbit/s on a single optical channel.
