Visa Extension: Thailand’s government has unveiled new measures aimed at revitalizing its economy through extended visa stays for various categories of visitors.
Announced recently, these initiatives target tourists, postgraduate students, remote workers, and retirees, aiming to bolster the country’s vital tourism sector and spur economic growth.

Effective from June, travellers from 93 countries will now be permitted to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days, an expansion from the previous allowance for 57 nations, as confirmed by government spokesperson Chai Wacharonke.
Additionally, more visitors will qualify for visas on arrival, simplifying entry procedures.
In a move to attract and retain talent, foreign postgraduate students will enjoy an additional year of stay upon completing their studies, while requirements for insurance among retirees seeking residency in Thailand will be relaxed.
These adjustments are part of Thailand’s broader strategy to attract a diverse range of visitors and residents, thus supporting economic recovery efforts.
Furthermore, the government aims to enhance tourism by doubling the duration of on-arrival visas from 30 to 60 days, targeting both established and rapidly growing markets.
For digital nomads and remote workers, visas will now be valid for up to five years, with each stay extended to 180 days, a significant increase from the previous limit of 60 days.
These initiatives underline Thailand’s proactive approach to adapt to changing global travel trends and attract long-term visitors, contributing positively to its economic outlook amid ongoing recovery efforts.
