Tripura : CM Advocates Simplified Visas for Bangladesh Travel

Tripura: Chief Minister Charts a Path of Cooperation with Bangladesh

Tripura : Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has expressed his commitment to raise the issue of simplifying visas for travel between Bangladesh and Tripura with the Central Government. This announcement came after a courteous meeting with a delegation of journalists from Bangladesh who visited Tripura to explore opportunities for cooperation and exchange.

Tripura’s transformation

During the meeting, Dr Saha proudly highlighted several remarkable initiatives undertaken by his government to propel the state towards progress. One of the pivotal pillars of Tripura’s transformation has been the implementation of the HIRA (Highways, Internet, Roads, and Airways) model, a visionary concept championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This model has played a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity within the region, facilitating economic growth, and opening doors to new opportunities.

While addressing the gathering, Dr Saha also underscored his government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug-related issues within Tripura. He emphasized the determination to establish a drug-free state, a mission that is vital for the well-being of the people and the overall development of the region.

Expressing his eagerness to strengthen bilateral relations, Dr Saha revealed his desire to meet with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, to explore avenues for cooperation and mutual growth.

The visiting Bangladeshi delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Bharat-Bangladesh Maitri Udyan at Chottakhola in South Tripura. This initiative, which focuses on preserving the memories of the 1971 Liberation War, was met with deep appreciation by the delegates, reinforcing the historical and cultural bonds between the two nations.

One of the most significant outcomes of this meeting was the proposal put forward by the Bangladeshi delegates – the simplification of the visa process for smoother cross-border travel. This suggestion was met with a positive response from Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, who assured the delegation that he would personally raise this important matter with the central government.
