Selvaraju Sandrakasi, born on 21 July 1985 in Taiping, Perak, Malaysia, is a name that resonates deeply in the world of field hockey. Known for his exceptional versatility and passion for the game, Selvaraju has left an indelible mark both on home soil and internationally. From representing Malaysia in the prestigious Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2006 to playing for top-tier clubs across the globe, Selvaraju’s journey is a testament to dedication, resilience, and the spirit of a true athlete.

Selvaraju’s love for field hockey began in the vibrant town of Taiping, Perak. His early years were marked by relentless training and a burning desire to excel. In 2006, his hard work paid off when he made his international debut in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, showcasing his potential to the world. Thriving in Foreign Leagues

His first international stint was with Moenchengladbach in Germany in 2006, where he made an immediate impact, scoring five goals in 12 Division One matches. In 2008, Selvaraju Sandrakasi joined Berlin, where he netted an impressive seven goals in just 10 matches. Although an injury briefly sidelined him, Selvaraju’s resolve remained unshaken. By 2010, he was once again representing Berlin in the German League, cementing his reputation as a player of extraordinary talent.

Expanding Horizons: New Zealand and France

Selvaraju’s career wasn’t confined to Europe. In October 2009, he played for the Division One side Midlands in New Zealand, scoring four goals in eight matches. His adaptability and skill earned him recognition and respect in a league known for its competitive intensity.

The following year, Selvaraju Sandrakasi joined Racing Club de France in the French Division One, where he scored four goals in 12 matches. His performance was so remarkable that he was invited back, with clubs from Spain, England, Belgium, Australia, and India also expressing interest in signing him.

Despite his international commitments, Selvaraju Sandrakasi remained deeply connected to Malaysian hockey. Playing as a midfielder for UniKL in the Malaysia Hockey League, he consistently demonstrated his ability to lead and inspire his team. His overseas experiences enriched his gameplay, making him a pivotal figure in elevating Malaysian hockey on the global stage.
