Born on April 18, 1979, this American television journalist has etched her name in the annals of news reporting, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.

Reena Ninan’s Illustrious Career

Reena Ninan’s journey in journalism commenced with her role as a producer at the esteemed Washington Post, setting the stage for a remarkable career trajectory.

Her pivotal stint at Fox News Channel from 2004 to 2012 saw her ascend to the position of Fox News’ Middle East Correspondent in 2007. Undeterred by the challenges, she reported from conflict zones like Libya, Indonesia, India, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq during the Iraq War.

Her dedication and fearlessness garnered recognition, with Glamour magazine naming her one of the “Women on the Front Lines” in July 2011. In 2012, Reena Ninan embarked on a new chapter, joining ABC News in the Washington bureau, where she covered the White House and the State Department.

Her global footprint expanded further as she reported for Good Morning America and continued her role as a foreign correspondent.

In April 2015, Reena Ninan’s star soared higher as she assumed the co-anchor position for ABC’s early morning shows World News Now and America This Morning, partnering with T. J. Holmes. However, her journey took an intriguing turn in 2016 when she joined CBS, becoming the anchor for CBSN and the Saturday edition of the CBS Weekend News until 2020.

Beyond the confines of newsrooms and live broadcasts, Reena Ninan’s personal life adds another layer to her multifaceted persona. Married to author and former Newsweek reporter Kevin Peraino, she balances a demanding career with the joys of motherhood, raising two children.

Reena Ninan’s commitment to empowering voices and sharing impactful narratives led her to establish Good Trouble Productions, a media company with a purpose. Her latest endeavors include a parenting podcast, “Ask Lisa: The Psychology of Parenting,” and a YouTube show titled “The Rebound,” spotlighting stories of resilience and triumph over adversity.

Venturing into uncharted territories, Reena Ninan recently founded News3, a company focusing on news, Web3, and blockchain. With an eye for meaningful content, she created two podcasts: “Ask Lisa” delves into mental health, while “HERO: The Hidden Economics of Remarkable Women” explores female entrepreneurship in developing nations, in collaboration with Foreign Policy and the Gates Foundation.

A Beacon of Versatility

Reena Ninan’s versatility shines not only in her professional endeavors but also in her personal pursuits. An ambitious amateur chef, she endeavors to perfect her mother’s trademark fish curry in her leisure hours. Fluent in Malayalam, the dialect from her family’s home state in Kerala, India, she has also studied Arabic and Hebrew.

When not immersed in the world of journalism, Reena Ninan cherishes moments with her family—her four-year-old son, Jack; two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Kate; and her husband, Kevin, who is currently engrossed in writing a book about China.
