He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Bangalore University in 1968, followed by a Bachelor of Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1971. His thirst for knowledge and management excellence led him to pursue a Master of Technology in Industrial Management from IIT Madras in 1973, one of India’s most prestigious institutions.

Determined to explore global perspectives, he continued his education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he received his Ph.D. in Business Administration in 1979, specializing in marketing.
