Visa Policy : In the midst of political turmoil and ailing economic woes, Pakistan has unveiled a game-changing initiative to revive its fortunes. The nation has launched a pioneering visa policy, specifically designed to lure in businessmen from across the globe, with the ultimate goal of attracting much-needed foreign investment.
This groundbreaking decision was reached during a Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) meeting, a military-civil hybrid body established during the Shehbaz Sharif government’s tenure to address Pakistan’s economic challenges.
The two-day SIFC meeting culminated in the approval of a new visa regime tailored to cater to foreign businessmen.
Visa Policy & Prime Minister
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, revealed that this visa policy would streamline the process for businessmen seeking to visit the country. Under this policy, a single document from international business organizations or their home country would suffice to secure an easy visa.
The launch of this visa regime took place during the fifth apex committee meeting chaired by the Prime Minister. The government’s hopes are pinned on this new, streamlined visa policy as a crucial step in attracting foreign investment and resuscitating the nation’s struggling economy.
Pakistan’s move to facilitate business visitors comes at a time when the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a travel advisory cautioning against travel to the country. The advisory was issued due to concerns over the outbreak of the poliovirus. In response, the WHO extended the travel ban for an additional three months, advising travellers to exercise caution when visiting Pakistan.
