Outrageous Attack on Women Athletes: Delhi Police Assault Olympic Winners Demanding Justice
Women athletes protesting sexual harassment were brutally attacked by the Delhi police today, in an appalling act that has left the nation in shock. Among the victims of this heinous assault is Sakshi Malik, a revered Olympic medallist and recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award.
Malik, along with her fellow wrestlers, had taken to Jantar Mantar to demand justice for the women wrestlers who had allegedly faced harassment from BJP MP Brijbhushan Singh.
The athletes sought to express their dissent by heading towards the new Parliament House, where Singh was attending the inauguration ceremony. However, instead of being met with understanding and support, they were met with sheer brutality from the Delhi police, who callously dragged them through the scorching streets under the scalding sun.
This incident sheds light on a disturbing trend within the Modi government’s new law enforcement strategy, which seems to prioritize the protection of criminals if they belong to the ruling party. It is a shameful display of power and oppression that cannot be tolerated in a democratic society.
Sakshi Malik, along with Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sangeeta Phogat, Satywart Kadian, and numerous other athletes, has brought immense pride to our nation through their extraordinary achievements. These champions, who have dedicated their lives to their sports, deserve respect, justice, and support—not this brutal treatment at the hands of the authorities.
