Early Life and Career Beginnings of Nita Deerpalsing

Nita Deerpalsing’s journey into politics began not from a direct path, but from a diverse career that laid a robust foundation for her later endeavors. Initially an Actuarial Consultant in Canada, Nita returned to Mauritius in 2003, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective on governance and public service.

Her return marked the beginning of an illustrious political career that would see her become one of the most vocal and influential members of the Mauritian Parliament.

Political Career

Nita Deerpalsing was elected as a Member of Parliament in Constituency No. 18 (Belle Rose & Quatre Bornes) in the general elections of 2005 and 2010. Her tenure in Parliament was characterized by her vigorous advocacy for economic democratization and her pivotal role as the Director of Communications for the Mauritius Labour Party.

She also served as Deputy Chairman of Committees, where she demonstrated her leadership and commitment to transparency and effective governance.

During her time in Parliament, Nita was a driving force behind numerous initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Mauritians.
