Madan Dulloo’s political debut came during the historic 1976 general elections, where he contested under the banner of the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM). For over 29 years, Dulloo was a fixture in Constituency No. 6 (Grand Baie/Poudre D’Or)—an electoral stronghold that he transformed into a bastion of unwavering support.
He was elected as a Member of Parliament in seven general elections: 1976, 1982, 1983, 1987, 1991, 2000, and 2005. His vote share consistently reflected the trust and faith the people had in his leadership. From winning 43.599% of the votes in 1976 to an impressive 58.026% in 2005, Madan Dulloo stood tall as one of the very few Mauritian leaders to have achieved such consistency.
