Israel-US Strikes on Iran: Indian Embassy Issues Advisory
Indian Embassy in Tehran Advisory Urges Citizens to Stay Indoors Amid Israel-US Operation Roaring Lion
Israel-US: The Indian Embassy in Tehran Advisory has called on Indian nationals in Iran to exercise “utmost caution” and avoid unnecessary movement following a large-scale joint military operation conducted by Israel and the United States.
In a statement posted on X, the Indian mission in Tehran urged citizens to remain indoors wherever possible, closely track official updates, and wait for further guidance. Emergency helpline numbers were also circulated to assist those requiring immediate support.
The advisory follows a dramatic escalation in regional tensions after Israel and the United States launched coordinated strikes on Iranian targets under an operation reportedly codenamed “Operation Roaring Lion.”
Israel-US: Explosions Rock Tehran
Blasts were reported in multiple parts of Tehran, including districts in the southern section of the capital. Iranian state media acknowledged the explosions, while local reports suggested that certain ministries and strategic installations were among the sites hit.
Though precise details remain unclear, the operation is believed to have targeted military installations, missile production facilities and other strategic assets. There has been no confirmed figure on casualties or the scale of damage at the time of reporting.
Adding to the uncertainty, Iranian media reported intermittent disruptions in mobile networks and internet connectivity in parts of Tehran. According to international news agencies, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was moved to a secure location as a precautionary measure.
Israel Declares State of Emergency
In response to fears of retaliatory action, Israel declared a nationwide state of emergency. Authorities confirmed that hospitals were shifted to fortified underground facilities and air raid sirens sounded across major cities amid warnings of potential missile and drone strikes.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced a special emergency under the Civil Defence Law, cautioning citizens to prepare for possible counterattacks.
The Israel Defence Forces stated that the strikes were conducted as a preventive measure to neutralise what it described as imminent threats.
Israel-US: US Confirms Military Involvement
A security source cited by The Jerusalem Post confirmed American participation in the operation. In a video message, US President Donald Trump announced that American forces had commenced “major combat operations” in Iran, asserting that the objective was to eliminate emerging threats against the United States and its allies.
The joint action has significantly escalated geopolitical tensions, particularly at a time when diplomatic negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme were reportedly underway in Oman.
Regional Airspace Closures and Travel Disruptions
In a rapid chain reaction, Israel, Iran and Iraq closed their airspace, suspending commercial and civilian flight operations. The shutdown has disrupted international travel routes and raised concerns about stranded passengers.
The Indian Embassy Tehran Advisory gains further urgency in light of these developments, as mobility options may become increasingly limited if hostilities intensify.
Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Jordan also advised Indian nationals and tourists to remain cautious and consider leaving the country before flight services face potential interruptions.
