Iran Announce : On Thursday, Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicraft Minister Ezzatollah Zarghami announced Iran’s warm welcome for initiatives like a visa waiver program, aimed at strengthening tourism ties among the ECO member states.

Speaking at the 5th ECO Ministerial Meeting held in Iran’s Ardabil, the designated 2023 ECO Tourism Capital, Zarghami emphasized Iran‘s commitment to facilitating the presence of tourists from member countries.

The ECO member countries, comprising approximately 500 million people, form a vast hub of commerce, culture, and history, making it an ideal destination for tourists. Minister Zarghami extended an open invitation to explore Iran’s attractions, including UNESCO-registered gardens, showcasing how Iranians have preserved their environment throughout history.

Hassan Mohammadiadib, Ardabil’s tourism chief, expressed optimism that the event would boost tourism, benefit the local economy, and related businesses. He revealed that comprehensive programs, including visits to natural and historical attractions in Ardabil province, were organized for guests attending the meeting.

Ardabil’s designation as the 2023 ECO Tourism Capital has created significant potential for tourism development. Mohammadiadib stressed the importance of seizing this unique opportunity to introduce the region’s cultural heritage, travel destinations, and ancient handicrafts to the world.

Ali Bahadori Jahromi, the Iranian government’s spokesperson, encouraged viewing Ardabil 2023 as a chance to bolster local tourism. Foreign tourists, he noted, could gain valuable insights into the country’s tourism capabilities, particularly those of Ardabil.

Ardabil, situated on a high, windswept plateau, boasts abundant natural beauty, warm-hearted locals, and a rich tradition of silk and carpet trade. It is also home to the UNESCO-registered Sheikh Safi al-Din Khanegah and the Shrine Ensemble.

Known for its freezing winters and mild summers, Ardabil attracts thousands of visitors annually, earning its reputation as one of the coldest cities in Iran during the winter season.
