Born in the vibrant city of Kolkata, Indrani’s upbringing was infused with a spirit of compassion and service. From a young age, she found herself drawn to the transformative power of helping others, volunteering alongside Mother Teresa and experiencing firsthand the impact of small acts of kindness.

At the tender age of 18, Indrani embarked on a solo pilgrimage across India, immersing herself in the rich tapestry of her homeland’s culture and traditions.

It was during this journey that she co-founded Shakti Empowerment Education (SEEschool.org), a platform dedicated to providing education, vocational training, and micro-financing for socio-economically disadvantaged women and children in West Bengal.

A Renaissance Woman: From Model to Multidisciplinary Artist

Indrani’s insatiable thirst for knowledge and her passion for the arts led her to pursue a diverse array of interests. As an international teen model-actor, she traversed the globe, immersing herself in different cultures and experiences. Yet, it was her encounter with classical harpist Markus Klinko that would forever alter the course of her life.

Together, as the photography duo known as Markus + Indrani, they embarked on a journey of artistic exploration, blending their unique talents to create visually stunning and emotionally resonant works of art.

Indrani’s keen eye for detail and her ability to capture the essence of her subjects earned her widespread acclaim, catapulting her to the forefront of contemporary photography.

Education and Advocacy of Indrani: A Commitment to Social Change

Indrani’s thirst for knowledge and her commitment to social justice led her to Princeton University, where she pursued a degree in Anthropology.

During her time at Princeton, she not only excelled academically but also became a trailblazer for change, reinstating Sanskrit and spearheading a student movement to create a South Asian Studies Program.

Driven by her desire to effect positive change, Indrani immersed herself in social justice advocacy, working with over 25 NGOs and becoming internationally recognized for her extensive efforts.

Through her work, she empowered young girls to become powerful agents of change, amplifying their voices and advocating for a more just and equitable world.
