Indian Nationals in Israel Asked to Remain ‘Alert’ Amid Growing Middle East Attacks

Indian Embassy Issues Advisory for Nationals in Israel as Middle East Conflict Intensifies

In response to the escalating violence in the Middle East, the Indian embassy in Israel has issued an urgent advisory to Indian nationals residing in the country. This advisory comes amidst growing regional tensions, as Israel’s military intensifies operations near its northern borders. The embassy has urged all Indian citizens to remain vigilant, closely follow safety protocols, and minimize unnecessary movement within the country.

The embassy’s statement emphasizes the importance of maintaining heightened alertness. “Please exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay close to safety shelters. The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and remains in regular touch with Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of all our nationals,” read the advisory. Indian citizens in Israel are being reminded of the importance of adhering to emergency protocols during this volatile period.

Limited Military Operations Intensify Tensions

The advisory follows Israel’s military announcement on Monday, regarding its launch of what it termed “limited, localized, and targeted raids” against Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon. The ongoing skirmishes have heightened fears of broader conflict, especially following Hezbollah’s statement of support for Hamas. This declaration of allegiance stems from the violence that erupted on October 7, when Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel, resulting in the loss of 1,205 lives according to official Israeli figures.

In retaliation, Hezbollah has been firing rockets across Israel’s northern border since October 8, further escalating the situation. The attacks have already forced the displacement of over 60,000 residents from northern Israeli communities, and the situation remains tense as the conflict shows no signs of de-escalation.

Safety Measures and Helplines for Indian Nationals

To ensure the well-being of Indian nationals, the embassy has provided essential helpline numbers available around the clock. Citizens are encouraged to contact the embassy in case of any emergencies:

  • A. +972-547520711
  • B. +972-543278392

Alternatively, they can reach out via email at: cons1.telaviv@mea.gov.in.

In addition, the embassy has called on any Indian nationals who have not yet registered with them to do so through the official website. This step is crucial for ensuring that all Indian citizens can be accounted for and assisted, should the need arise.

Global Warnings for Citizens in Israel

This advisory aligns with similar actions taken by other nations. The United States, for instance, has instructed its government employees and their families to remain sheltered in place until further notice, underlining the severity of the situation.
