India-Canada standoff fails to get in the way of student visas
Canada Student Visas Defy Diplomatic Tensions with Speedy Approvals
India-Canada :- In the midst of the ongoing diplomatic tension between India and Canada, the issuance of Canadian student visas has emerged as a beacon of efficiency. Despite the withdrawal of 41 diplomats from New Delhi, along with the temporary suspension of visa and consular services in Bengaluru, Chandigarh, and Mumbai, the processing of student visas remains remarkably swift.

According to immigration consultants Tirath Singh of Jalandhar-based Pinnacle Immigration and Gurpreet Singh from Kapurthala, the success rate for Canada student visas stands impressively at over 90%. In some instances, visas are being granted within an astonishingly short period of 11 to 13 days.
Tirath Singh highlighted a recent case where a student from Jalandhar received their visa within 11 days, even with a modest IELTS score of 4.5. “The success rate exceeds 95%, and in most cases, visas are arriving within 15 to 25 days,” he stated. This remarkable efficiency is evident, with an influx of over a dozen visas processed between October 14 and October 22.
Gurpreet Singh added that despite the closure of consulates and the diplomatic row, there is minimal impact on the visa application process. He attributed this to the resilience of VFS Global, responsible for managing visa applications, which continued normal operations in 10 Indian cities.
“Canada-centric visa application centres continued to operate normally in 10 Indian cities,” Gurpreet Singh emphasized. VFS Global had clarified on the same day diplomats left Indian soil that there would be no major impact on seeking a student visa in Canada.
In a surprising turn of events, Canada’s commitment to welcoming Indian students remains unshaken, even amidst strained relations. Jalandhar-based immigration consultant Harnidh Singh noted that recent visa approvals include students with scores as low as 4.5 in the IELTS exam and marks ranging between 52 and 56 in the Pearson Test of English (PTE) exam. This is despite the benchmark being 6 bands and 60 marks in the IELTS and PTE exams, respectively.
