Hamid Razak: In an era where leadership demands not just vision but compassion, Hamid Rahmatullah bin Abdul Razak stands as a powerful testament to what can be achieved when intellect, service, and passion converge. Hamid Razak: A Surgeon of Precision and Purpose

Long before he became a public servant, Hamid Razak had already made waves in the medical field. With over 15 years of experience, he carved a name for himself as a leading orthopaedic surgeon specializing in knee preservation and sports surgery. As the head of Sports and Joint Preserving Osteotomy Services at Sengkang General Hospital, Dr. Hamid’s commitment was clear: help people retain mobility, dignity, and quality of life, especially those too young for full joint replacements.

After completing his MBBS at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2009, Hamid’s pursuit of excellence took him across continents. He completed specialized fellowships at Imperial College London, the London Knee Osteotomy Centre, and the world-renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, where he mastered the Oxford Partial Knee technique. His global education, however, never dulled his local impact—he returned to Singapore with advanced skills and a greater vision.

To date, Hamid Razak has published more than 120 peer-reviewed articles, spoken at countless international forums, and performed over 300 knee preservation surgeries—all while pioneering new approaches in musculoskeletal care. His deep involvement in clinical research continues to reshape orthopaedic practice, benefiting not just his patients but the entire healthcare ecosystem in Southeast Asia.

The Teacher, The Mentor, The Advocate

More than a surgeon, Dr. Hamid Razak is a passionate educator and mentor. As an Adjunct Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, he has influenced a generation of young doctors and researchers. His students don’t just learn surgical techniques—they inherit a model of excellence, humility, and purpose-driven work.

Dr. Hamid Razak is also a founding member and Vice-President of the Singapore Knee Preservation Society, where he actively collaborates with colleagues to promote advanced joint care. His accolades—including the Lee Kuan Yew Postgraduate Scholarship, multiple teaching awards, and international fellowships—are a reflection not just of skill, but of his tireless spirit to evolve and uplift others.

Hamid Razak: From the Operating Room to the Parliament Floor

Elected as a Member of Parliament for Jurong Spring–Gek Poh in the West Coast–Jurong West GRC under the People’s Action Party (PAP), he succeeded Shawn Huang, bringing with him not just medical expertise but a human-centric approach to governance.

His political focus is shaped by his life’s work—healthcare accessibility, health literacy, youth mentorship, and social mobility. Dr. Hamid understands that national wellbeing goes beyond physical health—it includes education, opportunity, and community. In Parliament, he champions inclusive policies and grassroots initiatives, grounded in data, empathy, and real-world experience.

His involvement in advisory roles—from SINDA and the National Youth Council to the Singapore Prison Service—reflects his deep commitment to holistic societal development. As Deputy President of IMPROF, he leads mentoring programmes for underprivileged youth, creating avenues for young people to find purpose, resilience, and success.

A Man of Many Honors, Guided by Humility
