Growing Trend: Indians Flocking to the US for Travel
US in Indian Travellers favourite Destination
In response to the increasing number of Indians traveling abroad, the United States is taking steps to cater to this tourism boom by establishing two additional consulates in India. This development coincides with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the White House this week, which is seen as a pivotal moment for enhancing bilateral relations.
As part of his visit, Modi has scheduled meetings with numerous executives who are eager to invest more in India, aligning with the United States’ efforts to streamline visa processing.
India emerged as Asia’s top source of international travellers in 2022. This shift in travel trends highlights the growing wanderlust among Indian tourists and the country’s rising prominence in the global tourism landscape.
As per the official statement, both leaders instructed their respective officials to explore supplementary measures that would streamline business travel, tourism, and professional and technical exchanges between the two nations.
Data from the U.S. Department of Commerce National Travel and Tourism Office reveals that travel from India to the United States during the first five months of 2023 has surpassed the levels seen before the pandemic. In contrast, several other Asian countries, particularly China, have experienced slower recovery in terms of travellers visiting the United States since the pandemic.
