Donald Trump Criticizes California’s Leadership in Coachella Valley Rally

On Saturday, former President Donald Trump took his campaign to the West Coast, rallying voters in California’s Coachella Valley. The event was a passionate call to arms, as Trump focused on issues of immigration, crime, and what he described as the “destructive” leadership of the state’s Democrats. The rally, held near California’s 41st Congressional District, was designed to energize Republicans in the area as Election Day approaches.

Donald Trump’s speech centered on his belief that California, once known as a land of opportunity, has become a “paradise lost.” In a scathing critique, Trump claimed that California is suffering from the highest inflation, taxes, gas prices, cost of living, and homelessness in the nation. He also pointed to the state’s widespread crime and illegal immigration, blaming Democratic leaders for turning California into what he called a “sanctuary state.”

“Other than that, you’re doing quite well, actually,” Donald Trump quipped to the crowd, drawing laughter. He went on to target Vice President Kamala Harris, a former California senator and attorney general, stating, “We’re not going to let Kamala Harris do to America what she did to California.”

Donald Trump positioned himself as the only candidate capable of reversing California’s so-called decline. “Only I can get Californians out of this mess,” he proclaimed, as he criticized Democratic policies on immigration and their approach to crime.

California: An ‘Occupied’ State Says Donald Trump

The former president’s rhetoric intensified as he described California, and even parts of the United States, as being “occupied” by illegal immigrants. “We’re like an occupied country,” Donald Trump asserted. “We have people taking over parts of Colorado, and other states don’t want to talk about it because they’re embarrassed.” He compared the current situation to a country that had lost a war, urging Californians to take a stand.

Donald Trump’s rally took place in the battleground area of California’s 41st Congressional District, where Republican Representative Ken Calvert faces a tight rematch against Democrat Will Rollins. Calvert took the stage alongside Trump, expressing his optimism for Republican values in California. “Some sanity still exists in California, and it’s right here in Riverside County,” Calvert told the crowd, calling for Republican voters to make their voices heard.

Dennis Quaid: ‘Time to Pick a Side’

Actor Dennis Quaid, who recently portrayed Ronald Reagan in a biopic, also addressed the crowd, invoking Reagan’s leadership as an inspiration for the current political climate. Quaid urged Americans to “pick a side” between law and order versus open borders, and between the Constitution versus the influence of platforms like TikTok.

“God bless you. God bless America. I’m here today to tell you that it’s time to pick a side,” Quaid said passionately. He pointed out that the issues America faces today are strikingly similar to those during the 1980 election when Reagan won in a landslide. He emphasized that Ronald Reagan lifted the nation out of a period of perceived decline, much like Trump is attempting to do today.

Quaid’s fiery speech echoed Trump’s narrative, concluding with a question that Ronald Reagan once asked the nation: “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” The crowd erupted in applause as Quaid made clear his support for Trump, calling him his “favorite president of the 21st century.”
