Chinese Hackers: A cache of leaked documents originating from a Chinese state-linked hacking group has unveiled a sprawling network of cyber intrusions orchestrated by Beijing’s intelligence and military arms against various foreign entities.

The revelation, detailed in a report by The Washington Post, encompasses over 570 files, images, and chat logs, offering rare insights into the modus operandi of a company contracted by Chinese government bodies for large-scale, on-demand data collection operations.

The leaked material is attributed to iSoon, also known as Auxun, a Shanghai-based firm specializing in third-party hacking and data aggregation services for government agencies, security outfits, and state-owned enterprises.

Rather than revealing data pilfered from Chinese hacking endeavours, the trove primarily outlines targeted entities.

While the majority of targets were situated in Asia, iSoon’s scope extended globally, with indications of engagements related to NATO in 2022. Notably, the leak exposes discussions concerning the targeting of British government institutions, renowned think tanks like Chatham House, and diplomatic counterparts such as Pakistan and Cambodia.

These leaked documents offer a glimpse into the cutthroat landscape of ChinaChina’s national security data industry, where companies vie for lucrative government contracts by pledging heightened access to sensitive information.
