The British Council, in collaboration with UK universities, introduces the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM, emphasizing support for applicants with dependents.
Application deadlines vary, typically falling between March and April 2024. Twenty-five scholarships target women STEM scholars from India and South Asia.

This initiative targets female STEM graduates aspiring to pursue Masters’ degrees in the UK. Ranked third globally for citable research, the UK boasts 55.2% of its publications resulting from international research collaborations.
Notably, the Global Gender Gap Report 2023 highlights that women represent only 27% of India’s STEM workforce, despite comprising nearly 43% of STEM graduates in the country.
Rittika Chanda Parruck MBE, Director Education India at the British Council, stresses the importance of harnessing the full potential of the female population in addressing global challenges through science and research.
Parruck emphasizes that gender equity is imperative for human progress. Programs like the Women in STEM Scholarships aim to provide financial assistance, empowering women to fulfil their educational aspirations and contribute significantly to STEM fields.
This, in turn, facilitates transformative change and aligns with sustainable development goals.
