UK Implements Ban on Foreign Care Workers’ Families

UK Applies Strick Immigration Policies

UK Implements: The UK Home Office has implemented stringent visa regulations affecting overseas care workers, particularly those from India, by barring them from bringing their dependant family members to the UK.

Home Secretary James Cleverly staunchly defended the decision, citing the imperative to combat visa abuse and curtail what he termed unsustainable levels of legal migration.

UK Implements Ban…

Despite acknowledging the invaluable societal contribution of care workers, Cleverly emphasized the government’s resolve to confront abuse and manipulation within the immigration system.

The reforms unveiled alongside the visa restrictions include the establishment of a national career path and a new care qualification to bolster the indigenous workforce.

The government argues that these changes are crucial in safeguarding care workers from exploitation, often lured with visas under false pretences such as non-existent jobs or substandard wages.

This comprehensive overhaul is estimated to bar approximately 300K individuals eligible to enter the UK last year. Moreover, a review of the Graduate Route for international students has been initiated to optimize its efficacy, with Indian nationals constituting the largest beneficiary group of this visa.

The review follows recent adjustments to student visas, which terminated the entitlement of most post-graduate students to bring their dependants to the UK.

Effective April 4, a significant hike in the minimum salary for arrivals on the Skilled Worker visa will impact the financial prerequisites for family visas correspondingly.
